One thing I've been learning recently has nothing to do with underwriting, cap rates, or deal analysis.
It's mindset.
When I first started stepping into multifamily, one of my biggest limiting beliefs wasn't that I couldn't learn the business; it was wondering whether I belonged.
I've always had a big personality. I'm energetic, direct, and genuinely excited when I learn something new. Part of me worried that I might be "too much" for what was ahead.
What I'm beginning to realize is that success isn't about becoming someone else. It's about becoming more intentional while staying true to who you are. The people I've connected with haven't responded to me because I knew all the answers. They responded because I was curious, authentic, willing to ask questions, and genuinely interested in learning while providing value where I could.
I'm still early in my multifamily journey, but if there's one lesson I'm taking with me, it's this:
Don't shrink yourself to fit into the room. Keep learning, Keep growing, Keep showing up, and Keep doing the work. The right people will appreciate your authenticity.
Has anyone else had to overcome a limiting belief when entering real estate?
