🌞Happy Rock Monday Everyone.🔮
I just want to say thank you to everyone for being here and being part of this growing community. It means a lot that you take time out of your busy lives to stop in, share your finds, ask questions, and support one another. I’m still working on some exciting things for 2026, and I hope you’ll join me on some cool adventures this year—more rocks, minerals, prospecting stories, field tips, and discoveries ahead. I know we all have day-to-day responsibilities, and your time means a lot, so thank you for spending some of it here. My goal is to keep building a place that feels welcoming for beginners and valuable for experienced rockhounds too. This community is not just about stones—it’s about learning how the Earth works, sharing knowledge, connecting with nature, and helping each other grow. For Rock Monday, I’d love to hear from you too: What rock or mineral has caught your attention lately? What would you like to learn or see more of in 2026? Thanks for being part of the adventure. We’re just getting started. 🌎✨

🌞Happy Rock Monday Everyone.🔮
💎Hey everyone! It's mineral Monday 🌟
A friend just gave me this cool rock from the Yukon to cut and polish. I was totally wowed when I saw it — look at those beautiful dark streaks mixed with the bright yellowish-green! At first, I thought the host rock was some kind of basalt, the host rock. But after checking it out, it seems more like serpentinite (a rock made mostly of serpentine minerals). It has that classic waxy look and those pretty green bands that come from natural alteration processes deep in the earth.🌎 Yukon has some amazing geology, including old volcanic and metamorphic rocks like this. Has anyone here worked with serpentinite or greenstone before? What do you think it is? I’ll share some before-and-after pics once I cut and polish it.🏞 Can’t wait to see how the colours pop!✅️ Serpentinite rock can naturally contain, or be the host rock for, fibrous minerals, specifically chrysotile asbestos, which is a significant health hazard when airborne.❎️ So be sure to wear your proper protection when cutting. ✅️ What’s the coolest rock you’ve ever cut or found? Drop your photos or stories below! 👇 #RockHounding #Lap lapidary #YukonRocks #BeginnerRockID

🪨 Mineral Monday – Yukon Nephrite (Silica-Rich) 🌲
This one had me testing it twice… Dense, heavy, and tough as nails—this is a solid piece of nephrite jade from the Yukon, with natural silica veining running through it. What stands out:– Extremely hard to cut– Won’t scratch easily (even against quartz)– Deep green to black with lighter webbed veins Those lighter lines are silica that filled natural fractures over time, locking everything together and making this piece even tougher. 💡 Fun fact:Nephrite isn’t just hard—it’s one of the toughest natural materials out there, which is why it’s been used for tools and carvings for thousands of years. Not all jade is clean and gemmy—some of the best pieces are the ones that show the story of how they formed. #MineralMonday #Nephrite #Jade #Yukon #Rockhounding #Prospecting #TEProspecting

☕💎 Mineral Monday & Coffee
Today’s find is a beautiful green Fluorite from Castlegar, British Columbia 🇨🇦. Fluorite is one of my favorite minerals because of its amazing colors and crystal shapes. This piece has that rich natural green color that really stands out when the light hits it. Fluorite forms in hydrothermal veins and is often found alongside minerals like quartz, calcite, and sulfides. Around the Kootenays and southern BC, some really nice pieces have been found if you know where to look. I’ll be heading back out exploring more areas this summer, so hopefully I can uncover a few more pieces like this. Now it’s your turn 👇 What minerals or crystals have you found lately? Share your finds below and let’s see what everyone is discovering out in the field!
