🪨 Mineral Monday – Yukon Nephrite (Silica-Rich) 🌲
This one had me testing it twice…
Dense, heavy, and tough as nails—this is a solid piece of nephrite jade from the Yukon, with natural silica veining running through it.
What stands out:– Extremely hard to cut– Won’t scratch easily (even against quartz)– Deep green to black with lighter webbed veins
Those lighter lines are silica that filled natural fractures over time, locking everything together and making this piece even tougher.
💡 Fun fact:Nephrite isn’t just hard—it’s one of the toughest natural materials out there, which is why it’s been used for tools and carvings for thousands of years.
Not all jade is clean and gemmy—some of the best pieces are the ones that show the story of how they formed.
