Welcome to Method In Chaos.
My name is Mikael Yahaya. 2nd Degree Black Belt under Lachlan Giles. 15+ years on the mat and 10+ years coaching and instructing.
This is not a technique library. There are thousands of those.
Method In Chaos is built on a simple belief: technique is only one third of the picture. The grapplers who plateau are usually technically sound. What separates good from great is strategy, preparation and the ability to adapt when chaos shows up, because it always does.
I often say that techniques are tools. An average builder with the best tools builds an average house. An exceptional builder with average tools builds something exceptional. Here we sharpen the builder, not just the tools.
What we focus on:
Strategy and its adaptations, so you have a plan when things go wrong. Preparation so that your performance is optimised when it matters.
Technique so that your tools are sharp when you need them.

Method in Chaos has genuinely changed how I approach both my own BJJ development and coaching. The mix of theory, ecological and game based learning is practical, interactive and personalised. It has helped me better understand skill development, structure my coaching and most importantly articulate the why behind what I’m teaching. Mikael has created something that goes well beyond simply learning techniques.

Method In Chaos has been a phenomenal benefit to my training and mindset approaching training sessions. Mikael has a fantastic way of conveying information and explaining concepts in an easy to grasp manner. Mikael’s passion for jiu jitsu and coaching comes across in how he interacts with the community, and I can’t recommend Method In Chaos enough!

Mikael is my coach at Absolute MMA and his group, Method in Chaos, is spot on. Hoarding a ton of techniques can fail you when a roll goes sideways. His philosophy? Techniques are just tools; we need to upgrade the "builder." It's all about strategy, adapting to chaos, and real Mat IQ. Mikael actively asks for content suggestions and genuinely wants to help you develop. If you want a game that holds up under heavy pressure, this is for you!

Mikael offers an outstanding and continually evolving coaching platform through Skool. His high-level coaching is matched by excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine understanding of each client’s individual relationship with BJJ. His approach places a strong emphasis on skill development while prioritising every student’s safety and wellbeing. He uses a dynamic, engaging coaching style—including skill-based games—to make learning both effective and enjoyable.
