Today: I caught myself…
Today I caught myself telling my daughter “not to spill her food on your shirt while she ate.” And guess what happened? You guessed it. She spilled on her shirt. Instantly, I reacted. I told her, “How could you do that?! I just told you not to do it!” And then, I was reminded of this video and my own advice I share to my students in MPGA. Write in the comments if you can relate to this and give an example of a recent time you fell for this trap! https://youtube.com/shorts/iPLe6N2GaXg?si=J-1O8mr-Yv0MUj_t

Why Scottie Scheffler is so dominate with his iron play
There is something called The Green Zone strategy that Scottie uses to dominate with his iron play. Here is my summary of the videos I have watched from how Scottie uses his Green Zone strategy. Now - what stood out to you from watching the video? Play Smarter. Score Better: Scottie Scheffler’s Green Zone Strategy I. Mindset & Philosophy - Play the highest percentage shot. Always give yourself a birdie look. Don’t chase perfection. - Stay disciplined. Let others make mistakes. Stick to your plan. - Trust your short game. Confidence in putting and recovery allows safer approach shots. - Commit and execute. Once you pick your target, focus only on the swing. II. Green Zone Strategy (Ben Hogan Influence) Aim for Zones, Not Pins - Target general green zones opposite the pin. - Yellow zones: safe areas, little risk. - Red zones: short-sided misses—avoid at all costs. Pin Location Rules - Front Pins → Go Long - Back Pins → Go Short - Front Right / Middle / Front Middle Pins (Favorites) - Left Pins → Stay Safe III. Key Outcomes - More greens in regulation. - More birdie putts from safe spots. - Fewer big mistakes from short-siding. - Season-long consistency like Hogan (1948) and Scheffler (2023). IV. Takeaway for You - Don’t chase pins. - Know your safe zones. - Pick the high-percentage shot every time. - Trust your short game to turn safe plays into birdies.
