How to Record Club Selfie Videos Without Killing the Vibe
I tried recording a short selfie video on the dance floor using the magnetic portable ring light, like Michael Sartain suggests. I was having a good time and smiling, and there was a girl next to me—but as soon as she noticed the camera, she immediately put her hand up to cover her face.
I tried a couple more times in similar situations, and then a guy nearby asked me to turn the light off because it was bothering him.
That kind of killed the momentum a bit, and I’ll be honest—it left me a little discouraged.
For those of you who’ve actually used the portable ring light in clubs or busy venues:
  • Have you had similar reactions?
  • What’s been your experience overall?
  • Is there a better way to do this without making people uncomfortable or drawing negative attention?
I’m curious what’s worked for you in real-world environments and how you calibrated your approach.
Appreciate any insight 🙏
