As I was progressing through the safety lesson pertaining to paint storage, it mentioned a metal fire proof cabinet as the preferred option. I agree this is a great option, but for the hobbyist, those can be quite the investment… I wanted to share a dirt-cheap alternative that I’m using. Would love everyone’s thoughts. If there’s something I’m overlooking… I want to be safe, and will gladly spend the $ if it’s needed- it’s a lot cheaper than replacing a house or shop.
I use an old retired refrigerator, it’s insulated so the temperature is stabilized, and would certainly protect from fires. It has a self-closing door, and would also contain spills.
