The Israeli Air Force struck eight military compounds belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in eastern Lebanon a short while ago, the military says.
According to the IDF, the sites in the Beqaa Valley were used by Hezbollah to store numerous weapons, including rockets, as well as for training by the Radwan Force for planned attacks against Israel.
Hezbollah’s activity at the sites and attempts by the terror group to re-arm “constitute a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and pose a threat to the State of Israel,” the IDF says.
In recent weeks, the Israeli military has stepped up airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, with assessments indicating that the Iran-backed terror group may join Tehran in a new conflict against Israel. A Hezbollah official told AFP yesterday, though, that the group would not intervene on Iran’s behalf if the US carries out a limited strike against the Islamic Republic.
