Do we know what happened at the Minab girl's school

Is there any certainty (or most likely hypothesis) on what actually happened at the Minab girl's school on the first day of the war? This was and continues to be a propaganda tool for Islamic regime. I was speaking to a political scientist from a central European country who brought this up as a reason the Iranian people would not support military action against the IRGC.

Was it actually a mistake by the US military that killed many school children; was the whole incident a complete fabrication; or does the answer lie in between?
