We Flipped the Script (And Raised $102k at our IRL Skool Event)
Last week we ran our first IRL Skool Summit. It was amazing and... has completely changed how I am thinking about business, community, and what we're actually doing here. The big shift stemmed from a small question: Instead of asking "How much can we make?" we started asking "How much can we give?" And honestly? It's been the most inspiring thing I've done in years. So let me tell you a short story... About 6 months ago, my business partner @Alexander VandeLaar and I had this idea for a one-day summit in our little hometown of Kelowna (150k people, nothing fancy). We decided to combine it with one of our 5 day Client Mastermind Retreats and make it something special since @Goose Dunlavey and his team ( @Tony Loew , @Yahya Kazi , @Vincent Roswandowicz ) were coming through town for the Skool World Tour. The plan was simple: Sell tickets to the 1 Day Summit for $299 (Discounted most for $150), cover expenses, and donate 100% of profits to Ronald McDonald House (RMH) We chose that charity for a couple of reasons. #1 - They were local #2 - Many local legends support them and we thought they might get behind our event #3 - My niece needed a multi visceral transplant when she was 1 and was supported by them We brought in some incredible speakers: Our favorite Skoolers like @Evelyn Weiss (all the way from austria) @Ted Carr @Matthew Thompson (all the way from ireland) ... Legends @Daniel Bissonnette & @Benny D shared their wisdom too plus local legends like Dan Martell and his wife Renee Warren, Nick Kusmich (the billion-dollar ad guy turned modern shaman), and Kevin Preston shared their genius.
