We’re More Connected Than Ever… So Why Are We So Mentally Exhausted?
I don’t think we’re just “busy” anymore. I think we’re overloaded.
Messages. Notifications. Emails. Reels. Podcasts. Scrolling while we’re supposedly “resting". Do our brains ever really switch off?
And the scary part? Scrolling can feel like rest… while actually overstimulating our nervous system even more. No wonder so many people feel mentally flat.
These constant interruptions fragment our attention and leave us unable to properly settle or focus. Real rest needs to look very different. I'm talking about finding quiet and space, engaging in movement, nature and presence, and prioritising moments without constant input.
Honestly, I think calm and focus are resilience skills now.
When we’re constantly consuming and reacting, it becomes hard to hear ourselves think.
The goal isn’t to escape the noise completely… but we must work to intentionally step out of it sometimes. Even briefly.
What actually helps your brain feel calm and clear these days?
