🚨 SCAM WARNING 🚨

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a recent experience to help you avoid potential scams targeting agencies or marketers.

Here’s what happened: I was approached via my website’s contact form by someone claiming to represent “The Agency RE Group.” They wanted help managing Facebook ads with a $60,000 monthly budget. Sounds impressive, right? But here’s where the red flags started to show:

1. The email came from a Gmail address.

A legitimate business spending $60K/month on ads would most likely use a professional domain email, not Gmail.

2. Mismatched names.

The name on the email didn’t match the person they claimed to be. Suspicious from the get-go.

3. $60K monthly ad spend tied to a Gmail.

It felt off—why would a company with that much budget not invest in proper communication channels?

4. Too good to be true.

Their website looked decent but felt slightly off. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a dummy website.

5. Cloned Meta website.

They provided a link to a website under the domain metamanageads.com, which looked completely legitimate—like an official Facebook website. On closer inspection, it was a cloned site designed to look like Facebook Business Manager. The purpose seems to have been to steal my Facebook login and password (however valuable that may be).

6. No alerts in Business Manager.

They sent me an invite to join their Business Manager, but it never appeared in my actual Business Manager account, which was a major red flag. When I played along and said, “I didn’t get the invite,” they resent it via email—again, it never showed up in Business Manager.

7. Domain is now down.

After telling them I wasn’t interested, I noticed their domain, metamanageads.com, disappeared entirely—another big indicator of a scam.

👉 I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am. However, if I’m proven wrong, I’ll happily apologise. In the meantime, I wanted to share this as a cautionary tale.
