🇦🇺📱 What’s Happening in Australia: New Law on Kids Using SNS

Australia has introduced a new law that began on December 10:
➡️ Children under 16 are not allowed to use social media (SNS).
This includes major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X — a total of 10 services.
The government says the goal is to protect children from harmful content, such as inappropriate images, videos, and dangerous online behaviour.
SNS companies are responsible for blocking access for under-16 users.
If a company fails to follow the law, it could face a fine of up to:
💰 49.5 million AUD
(about 5 billion yen)
Parents and children will not be fined — the responsibility is on the companies.
