@Fenny Kirmil Try your best and you'll be surprised!!
Very Happy to have found you!
Very happy to have found you! I am traveling to Japan in February and would like to have at least a little bit of knowledge to not be totally lost. I understand it is not a lot of time. I also want to make sure that I am not disrespectful in any way.

🇦🇺📱 What’s Happening in Australia: New Law on Kids Using SNS
From NHK News Easy: https://share.google/OzwcSXIqDYwft5HT5 Australia has introduced a new law that began on December 10: ➡️ Children under 16 are not allowed to use social media (SNS). This includes major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X — a total of 10 services. The government says the goal is to protect children from harmful content, such as inappropriate images, videos, and dangerous online behaviour. SNS companies are responsible for blocking access for under-16 users. If a company fails to follow the law, it could face a fine of up to: 💰 49.5 million AUD (about 5 billion yen) Parents and children will not be fined — the responsibility is on the companies. --- 🈶 Useful Vocabulary Japanese Romaji English 法律(ほうりつ) hōritsu law 利用(りよう) riyō use 危険(きけん) kiken danger 守る(まもる) mamoru to protect 違反(いはん) ihan violation 罰金(ばっきん) bakkin fine / penalty SNS(エスエヌエス) SNS social media --- 🧠 Key Phrase (Beginner Friendly) 〜てはいけません = “must not / not allowed to” Examples: 子どもはSNSを使ってはいけません。 → Children must not use SNS. ここで写真をとってはいけません。 → You must not take photos here. --- 🫵 Your Turn — Easy Question Do you think this law is a good idea? Why or why not? (English or Japanese — both OK!) You can answer in simple Japanese: いいと思います。こどもをまもることが大切です。 むずかしいと思います。SNSはべんりです。 日本でもひつようだと思いますか? Write your thoughts below — I’ll reply to each comment! 📱🇦🇺✨

@Tiffany Joyner It's an interesting issue and I really see your point of view (especially because we're talking on a social platform that can, hopefully, educate!). In Australia, we see that all the evidence suggests that it is harmful for children, overall. It is common here to impinge on personal freedoms for the purpose of public good. Will this ban be effective? We'll have to wait years to find out.
