4 Months In — What Would You Do Next?
Hey everyone 👋
Quick update on my journey so far — and I’d love your input on what to do next.
After holding my German Amex for ~3 months and waiting for my ITIN, I went ahead with the Amex Global Transfer. Here’s where I’m at now:
Current setup:
- Amex Hilton Surpass — $15k limit
- Amex Green
- Capital One Quicksilver Secured (on the way)
- Charles Schwab Brokerage Account
- DCU Checking (applied)
Credit history: ~4 months
I feel like I’ve built a solid foundation, but now I’m thinking about how to move strategically from here — especially optimizing for:
- Welcome bonuses
- Stronger credit profile
- Future approvals (Chase, Citi, BoA, etc.)
Questions for the group:
1. When would you go for the next unsecured card?
2. Would you prioritize another Amex (e.g. Gold/Platinum) or diversify (Chase/Citi)?
3. Any tips to graduate the secured card faster or boost limits early?
4. Is it too early to think about Chase (considering thin file + no SSN)?
Appreciate any advice or personal experiences 🙌
