Depression is a calling to soften, surrender, and shift. A heavy whisper that, when heard, stings the lobe and confuses the ego. It is not your “shadow”, a fractal of you so dark & ugly that it must be drugged into non-existence. It can be quieted, but it cannot be silenced, for its return gains momentum as it deepens and quickens upon you, smothering you like a wetted wool blanket. The onset of depression, when met with tenderness, spaciousness, acceptance, and compassion for the “self, “comes as an invitation for the ego to reconsider and release. It is the shift that occurs just before a growth spurt. It is the collapse that allows for the catalyst of expansion. It is the innate and organic rhythm that even the earth herself must obey. We are mirrors of the planet, we too must allow our old growths to snap under the weight of its environment, limbs to bow & break and drop, and established roots to die. When we do not honor the internal shifts and the call to the little death, of the ego, then we are denying our very nature. The ego can convince us that we are unloved, that we are ugly, that we will never find a relationship, that we are not significant because we are not chosen, rich, tall, curvy, ripped, adorned in the latest fashions, or adored by the latest fashions. It is the ego that will convince you that you are broken & sick and that nothing will change. That this place of being is your damned eternal existence. It is not the ego’s fault. They have been programmed and convinced by a sick society, an unhealthy world that has brainwashed the ego into a pattern of thinking that destroys us from within. The ego believes that by studying your environment that it can keep you safe, but it is the environment that programs the ego into believing a false perception into existence. AND you are awaking, and you know that this voice, this inner chatter, doesn’t feel right. You know, in the deep vibration of your gut, chest, and throat, that this is not truth, this is simply MAYA.
