Publishing with Amazon
I have helped about 200 authors get published and have 10 books that I have published. Early on I was frustrated with the idea that these so-called publishing resources would end up with $10 of the sale of a book while only giving me $1 when I was the one that put in all the work in writing the book.
Fortunately, because I had spent 20 years in the printing/publishing industry, I created a simple process to flip the results so that I ended up with $10 and Amazon only gets $1 when selling my books.
I found www.TheBookPatch.com early in 2001. I uploaded my .pdf version of the books. I posted my books on Amazon using the "Self Fulfillment" option. When someone buys my book, Amazon sends me a notice with the details of the purchase. I post the sale on thebookpatch.com with the address of the buyer and they print the book and ship it typically within a week. Then for a $20 book, I earn $10 while Amazon only receives $1.
I don't have to keep a stock of my books and a major benefit is when I have speaking engagements, The Book Patches will print and send as many copies of my books to the location where I'll be speaking, making it so much easier to avoid having to transport the books myself.
