I've been testing the results for around 6-7 months now. Your LinkedIn connections 100% impact how your content performs, the reach it has, and who the posts actually get sent out to.
Here's what we've found and what you should do:
- Under 500 connections = small test pool. LinkedIn can’t test your content widely.
- Thousands of irrelevant connections mean your first distribution goes to people who don’t care.
- If your network is full of recruiters, classmates, or randoms outside your niche, your posts die early. The algorithm sees “no clicks = not valuable.”
- A smaller, targeted audience that interacts beats a massive one. 2,000 aligned connections > 20,000 randoms.
- Disconnect or unfollow irrelevant or inactive people in chunks (20–30/day). Refill with ICP-aligned connections.
Focus on your ICP and ACTIVE people on LinkedIn only.
That's my advice for today.
Cha-cha!
