Plyometrics for first step speed!
Stop getting locked up by faster defenders when you drive! If you want to build strength to blow by players you need 2 key concepts: 1. You must be able to load the hips quickly and explode toward the basket forcefully. The Single Leg Broad Jump is great for developing this quality. 2. You must have long strides! If you can get past your defender in one stride, then the battle to the rim is over. You won! Work on this with single leg bounds. Do these plyo’s and you won’t be slow anymore! How to fix knee pain!

These two tests will help you determine this: 1. Gluteus medius. This muscle is the prime mover for lateral movement, but often underdeveloped. Fix this to take lateral stress off the knees. 2. Soleus. It is one of the strongest muscles in our body. However, most people’s is incredibly weak. If you strengthen this, you will get more twitchy, jump higher, and even lessen knee pain!
