I need some honest feedback - not sure if I’m focusing on the wrong problem
I’m from Sweden, and I’ve been having a bit of difficulty booking meetings. I’m not exactly sure why. I think my English is pretty decent overall, maybe I have a bit of an accent or dialect, but I can communicate and understand people well enough. One thing I’ve been thinking about is that I’m not familiar with a lot of the trade-specific language, slang, and culture in the market I’m selling to. Since I’m not from there, I don’t really know how much impact that has. But I do believe people naturally trust someone more when they feel similar to them, and that probably makes sales easier. Selling in Sweden isn’t really an option for me for several reasons. One reason is that Sweden isn’t a very entrepreneurial or competitive market compared to the US. A lot of people don’t care much about branding or reputation, and the bigger companies dominate while smaller businesses often stay small unless they expand internationally. So I wanted to ask you guys: do you think language, culture, slang, or even just being from another country can noticeably affect appointment booking rates? The second issue I’m having is with show-ups hahah, I think this is probably because I still haven’t fixed my A2P setup. I found the process a bit difficult, especially because I haven’t opened a company yet, and I’m planning to open an Estonian company for tax reasons. From what I understand, I should still be able to get A2P verified with an Estonian company, but I’m not 100% sure yet. My plan is to open the company after getting my first client since the setup process should be pretty quick once I apply. Because of this, I currently can’t send proper SMS messages, which makes it harder to send reminders, information, and pre-sell the appointment. I imagine this can also make me seem less trustworthy or even scammy to some prospects. I’ve been thinking about buying a Tello number so I can send SMS properly. I also considered just using iMessage from my Swedish number since it’s free, but honestly I think that would look even more suspicious, so probably not a good idea.
