There are SCAMMERS out there!
I recently got this InMail on LinkedIn:
Hi Teja,
I hope you’re doing well. I came across your profile and was genuinely impressed by your experience in operations management, strategic execution, and driving business performance through efficient processes and data-driven decision-making. Your background aligns very well with a Director of Business Operations opportunity we are currently supporting.
This is a high-impact leadership role focused on optimizing and scaling core business operations while partnering closely with executive leadership and key departments. The Director of Business Operations will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, improving efficiency, and supporting sustainable business growth.
In this position, you would be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, leading cross-functional teams, and implementing processes that enhance productivity and performance. You will also manage KPIs, streamline workflows, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive scalability across the organization.
Additionally, the role involves strengthening operational frameworks, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring alignment between operational activities and overall business strategy. You will collaborate closely with teams across operations, sales, marketing, and finance to support execution, evaluate performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Compensation: $250,000 – $350,000 base salary, plus performance bonus and equity
Location: Remote (USA)
Engagement: Full-Time | Executive Leadership
If this opportunity aligns with your experience and career goals, I would be happy to share more details and explore a potential fit. Please feel free to reply with your resume or preferred contact information so we can continue the conversation.
I look forward to connecting with you.
Best regards,
Asad Shabbir

SO HERE IS THE THING:
  1. The company is not listed. Sometimes things are confidential.
  2. The recruiter's profile does not have a company they work for. It is listed as other.
  3. The verbiage is very generic. Probably a template.
  4. The compensation is a bit high for a "Director" level role, unless it is a huge company.
I WROTE BACK:
Hi Asad,
I’m interested in hearing more.
Teja
ASAD WRITES BACK:
Hi Teja,
Thank you for your interest in this opportunity. I completely understand the request. Because this is a retained search for a high-impact leadership role, the client has requested that we keep their identity confidential during this initial outreach phase to protect the privacy of the search process.
THEN ASAD asks for my email and a copy of my resume, but my gut says "wait".
WHY? I didn't ask for the name of the company.
I WRITE TO ASAD:
Hi Asad,
Thanks for sharing the overview. Before moving forward, could you please share a bit more context on the organization, including industry, size, and your role in the search?
Given the level of the opportunity, I want to ensure alignment before proceeding further.
Appreciate it,
Teja
LONG STORY SHORT, ASAD EVADES ANSWERING.
A real $250K–$350K role:
  • Has a tight, controlled candidate slate
  • Is handled by known firms or senior partners
  • Does NOT start with: vague outreach no company context no credibility
WHAT THIS PROBABLY WAS:
  • Offshore recruiter building a candidate pool
  • Resume harvesting for future use
  • Low-quality contract recruiter with no real mandate yet
AKA: Waste of my time. Be vigilant. Listen to your gut feelings. Smile Asad.
