Live in-person events
As coaches, community owners, entrepreneurs, we're in the middle of an era where much of our connections and interactions are online-based: on Zoom, on Google Meet, in the comments, on posts.
And they're great. Here on Skool in particularly, there's so many opportunities across the board to engage with content and individuals that resonate with us, whether it's what they talk/post about, opening up collab opportunities or simply just being a great person you want to connect with energetically. I myself feel this a lot of this constantly, if anything there's too many opportunities to keep up with..!
At the same time, the idea of meeting people physically seems to have taken a back seat. To actually go and meet people in the flesh, connect and enjoy each other's company is something that I wonder if we can do more of..not just with strangers, but with people you've previously connected with..
I say this on the back of going to an in-person event in London last Friday. It was 10 of us in total in a conference room in a business meeting space in the middle of town. The day was centered around becoming the 2.0 vesion of yourself through identity realignment - your beliefs, your patterns, your blocks, that kind of thing. We started at 10am, clocked out at 5pm and all went for a drink afterwards in the warm summer sun.
What came out from the day for me was hearing other people's stories and situations and finding that there is commonality amongst us all as humans, no matter where we're at in our journey. Someone was there who had literally just got started with their own business, whereas someone else there had been running their coaching business for years - yet each both had a sense of imposter syndrome and were stuck at the 'what should I do next?'
The day dealt with us rewiring our systems to deal with notions and points where we're stuck like this, and ultimately, it felt like everyone left with a sense of what to do next for themselves and (by definition) their business.
For me, I left with the reactivated idea to trust myself and the process more. There's no need for being bogged down with comparison or rushing things. I am evolving my offering all round by utilising creativity for the ideas I have, which my network has been a great help with.
All this said, I'm definitely looking to host my own in-person event in the near future. Nothing about the day from a hosting perspective felt insurmountable, and at the same time, I know I'm someone who defaults to the pattern of planning it and maybe overthinking it. That's ok, I can observe that and not let it take over.
I'd love to know:
