Let It Be Felt
While watching a replay of a Hot Seat Coaching session today, I had a simple but powerful realisation.
One participant shared that she was feeling fear. Instead of asking her to analyse it or explain the story behind it, Victor/ Aaron invited her to do something much simpler:
Allow it.
Accept it.
Feel it.
Be with it.
As she stayed present with the fear, something unexpected happened.
The fear gradually softened and revealed sadness underneath.
The same process then invited her to continue with the sadness.
Watching this unfold, I realised how much time we spend trying to understand our emotions, explaining them, fixing them, or getting rid of them; yet so little time actually feeling them.
Perhaps not every emotion needs to be analysed.
Perhaps not every emotion needs to be solved.
Perhaps some emotions simply need to be felt. 🌿
