I'll apologise in advance - This is quite a long post but there is meaning behind why! A little bit of background on me - When my son, Lewis, started out in goal, he wanted to see his saves back. So out came the phone. Then, he wanted to see goals aswell... More phone action! I also invested in a camera to go behind the goal: An Akaso 7000 Pro. After 1 of his games, I had 73 clips and it dawned on me how much time I was losing each week going through to remove irrelevant clips. The other kids were keen on seeing goals and saves, so I was starting to use my phone and laptop to edit clips together for them, so then came the obvious brainwave: Change to Veo or XbotGo? Veo costs a bomb and XbotGo seemed to have really mixed reviews, so I got another Akaso 7000 Pro and a cheap 4k camera from Amazon. Each weekend, I spend hours putting together a mini MOTD highlight package which goes to both teams (all with consent prior to the game I should add!), which I edit on Davinci Resolve 20. All of the above is purely for entertainment purposes for the kids of both teams, and we've only had 1 team say no to it. With something like Veo, you will get various stats etc, but for the purpose of what I do, Veo is a lot of cost for something I do weekly anyway. With the introduction of the new XbotGo Falcon, I'm really considering switching out the main camera, because it then frees me up. With it being a one-off cost with SD memory storage, it sounds ideal for what I do. BUT.... As a parent on the sidelines, being on camera duty means that I have to keep my mouth shut. I used to be really vocal in my support for both teams - Never tactical or critical, purely congratulating a good shot/save/tackle/goal. And when you take a step back from making noise to sit quietly behind a camera, I've actually found it really cool to see my boy just do his thing. I know there's always a debate about filming & highlights - Whether good or bad, but by doing the above and putting in the hours, my boy, his teams and the opposition have memories to look back on as they go on their journey. Parents who can't make it still get to see the game. I'm yet to hear a negative comment about how we do things, but there's always a lot of very positive feedback from both sides.
