Healing Workshop
Hello community! Hope everyone is doing well. A few months ago, we recorded a video with our friend @Timothy Voin who we met at the BioCulture retreat in Mexico. Tim teaches people to heal themselves and others through TOUCH! And it works. During the BioCulture retreat in November, we were in a breakwork session one morning. I was in one of my breath holds, when Tim came over to me and lightly placed his hands on my stomach - 5 grams of touch. My entire body went into convulsions for a few seconds. I later realized that the trauma I had been carrying around for months had left my body and I was finally able to tell the story about Jackson without the pain and pit in my belly. I felt like a hundred pounds had been lifted. Tim is incredible. I realize not everyone can get to our retreat in Mexico in November to meet Tim in person so we decided to bring a little bit of Tim to you! Anyone else have FLU A in their house?
It's been a week... my little one came down with Flu A last weekend and had a brutal fever for 3 straight days - like 105... not fun. She's doing great and back at school but I thought I would drop some tips in here about what we are taking to keep the rest of the house healthy. It should go without saying that the basics you can do stay healthy during the VIRAL season are: 1 - Get sleep - 7-8 hours a night 2 - Get sunlight, especially in the morning 3 - Move your body - go for walks, get out in the fresh air and nature 4 - Eat clean, healthy, Whole Foods packed with vitamins and nutrients - and avoid processed, high sugar foods 5 - Hydrate with Salt - we will love LMNT 6 - Find calm to manage stress - I did more Yoga this week and made sure to find at least 5- 10 minutes each day for meditation. I also listen to the Calm app at night before bed and did daily journaling. Note that all of the above are FREE. They cost you nothing with maybe the exception of #4 but we all have to eat and you should be eating as clean as possible. Daily Immune Support: Vitamin C Vitamin D3 with K1 and K2 (take with fat at a meal) Zinc Black Seed Oil Oregano Oil Lysine - just added this based on a recommendation. Elderberry If there's a cough in the house, I will add in: Quercetin Curcumin Melatonin at night (3mg at most) If you can, I highly recommend getting in a few sauna sessions - check out RXFit in Port or Boost in Roslyn or find one near you. Sauna is a great way to detox. Community member, @Linda Moslow just shared with me this blog post from Dr. Mark Hyman... we seem to be on the same page although he also adds in a few others such as Vitamin A, Tartary Buckwheat and Medicinal Mushrooms - we have something called Shii which I have also been taking. What did I miss? Anyone have anything to add?

How's your sleep routine?
Hey friends, it's Sunday. I'm cramming in my Nutrition course trying to finish it up before year end. That's the goal. Who wants to hold me to it? I just finished part 2 last night and I've moved on to part 3. What I loved about the end of Part 2 was the Macronutrients, Micronutrients and Stess/Recovery/Sleep sections. Sleep is so underrated. I used to be that person who said, "i'll sleep when i'm dead". After learning more about how sleep impacts us (i thankfully learned this before last night), I've made major changes is my mindset and my habits around sleep. What we think sleep does…. Refreshes us What it actually does is help us…. Lose fat Gain muscle Recover and repair Regulate blood sugar Regulate hormones Regulate hunger Clean up our insides Get rid of waste products More sleep, more…. Vitality Energy Brain health - think, learn and remember more Emotional health - happier, calmer, more stable Recovery from workouts, injuries, illnesses. Here are the standards we set for our sleep routine(since B and I sleep together, we try to do this as a team): Try to turn off electronics an hour before bed Make a cup of decaf Tea or an LMNT chocolate salt in hot water (so yummy and curbs any sugar cravings) Put on blue light blocker glasses (looking to invest in some red light bulbs for around the house) Do something relaxing, mindless Take Magtein from Momentous Head up to bed before 10pm Turn on a meditation when we get into bed - love the calm app - (Here’s a limited time guest pass to try Calm, free for 30 days. https://www.calm.com/gp/77RH64EXFK36NLLW38) Cuddle (We have been using a grounding sheet - seems to help me sleep better.
