I was playing with scriptcam so I can record some videos, applying Joe's training. Camera and Mic did not respond. I am using a Mac laptop.I checked settings, camera and mic, including Chrome tester, all seem to be in order. Yet, it does not with scriptcam. What am I missing? Any insight? Mosongo @Joe Apfelbaum

Last year and early this year, I wrote about the grieving brain and the losses that can come with losing a job. I’ve been thinking about this again as I read Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor’s new book, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺y, a follow-up to her first book, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯. Having spent nearly 20 years in pharma, I’ve noticed two periods when restructuring and workforce decisions often come into focus: May–June and November–December. Portfolio reviews. Shifting priorities. Budget decisions. I’ve seen how quickly someone’s professional future can change. But here’s what I don’t think we talk about enough. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀. Maybe your organization has changed. Maybe you’re no longer being considered for opportunities you once expected. Maybe you’re still performing well, but you’re tired of proving your value. Or maybe you’re beginning to wonder whether the career you’ve spent decades building is still the one you want. And that’s where things get complicated. Because leaving has consequences. But so does staying. Your income matters. Your relationships matter. Your professional standing matters. And so does the possibility of creating something different. I’ve learned that before I can make a consequential decision, I need to understand what I’m trying to protect and what I want to make possible. 𝗜’𝗺 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
