The Final Countdown…
After half term, we return to school tomorrow for the final week before the last GCSE English Language exam on Friday 5th June.
For many students, this will be their final English GCSE paper. The finish line is now in sight!
Over the next few days, avoid panic and focus on the things that will make the biggest difference:
📚 Retrieve, don't just read
Test yourself on language and structure terminology, question requirementsand planning techniques.
✍️ Practise exam questions
Even planning responses can help build confidence and familiarity with the paper.
⏱️ Keep an eye on timing
Make sure you know roughly how long to spend on each question. Many students lose marks simply because they run out of time.
💡 Read the question carefully
Underline key words and make sure you're answering exactly what is being asked.
😴 Prioritise sleep
A well rested brain will outperform an exhausted one every time.
🥤 Look after yourself
Stay hydrated, eat well and make time to relax too.
Most importantly, remember this:
✨ You do not need to be perfect.
✨ You do not need to know everything.
✨ You simply need to show the examiner what you know.
You have spent months preparing for this moment. Trust your revision, trust your practice and trust yourself.
Let's make this final week count. Remember tonight's Language lesson at 5pm with Molly. You can join here for all things paper 2: https://meet.google.com/mtz-jera-kge
