Im on autopilot
Driving home from a sunrise hike this morning, standing on top of my car watching the light hit the valley, it hit me how quiet my brain has finally gotten this week.
As a freelance digital marketer, my entire life is usually measured in screen time, engagement metrics, and the constant, underlying anxiety of the next brand collab. It’s easy to trick myself into thinking I'm "living the dream" while actually just viewing life through a 6-inch screen. But over the last few days, something clicked. I’ve spent more time looking at the actual horizon than checking my notifications. I’ve been hitting the gym without tracking it, flying my drone just to capture the beauty of the landscape for myself, and filling up pages in my journal with actual, long-term life plans instead of snappy captions.
I’m noticing a real shift in how I wake up. The constant urge to produce and hustle is being replaced by this grounded sense of security. I'm remembering that I do this work for the freedom it gives me to explore, not to become a slave to the algorithm.
With the holidays wrapping up, the reality of diving back into client work and tight deadlines is right around the corner. Honestly, I used to dread that transition. But right now, I feel a rare kind of optimism. I want to take this version of myself, the one that actually breathes, stays present, and looks up, back into the daily grind with me.
For those of you who also juggle, how do you keep from slipping right back into autopilot once the real-world noise starts back up?
How do you protect this kind of peace when the notifications start flooding in again?
Appreciate you guys for letting me document the raw parts of the journey here
