Today's quote from the book:
“Your brain isn’t trying to ruin your progress. It’s trying to protect you from perceived threats.”
Doing What You Know, Chapter 6, p. 96
Most people treat resistance like a character flaw.
It’s not.
It’s your system trying to keep you safe.
Even when “safe” is the exact thing keeping you stuck.
That’s why you can want change
and still feel your body tighten up when it’s time to move.
The threat usually isn’t real.
It’s old.
It’s familiar.
It’s recycled.
The win is noticing it
and choosing forward anyway.
Identify one “perceived threat” that’s been slowing you down. Take one 5-minute step that proves you’re safe enough to move.
