FIRE Journey
Hello,
Currently on year 9 of real estate investing. Scaled to around 53 doors in 3 different markets OK, CA, and AL. Started house hacking in Bay Area, CA then transitioned out of state to apartments in OK and new construction in Huntsville as I wanted more cash flow. I bought most of my rentals during the sellers market of 2020-2022 and have slowed down significantly during the higher interest rates.
At this point, I am transitioning into chill/harvester mode aka want to sell my lower performing or more headache rentals and use that money to pay off my primary residence and to build an ADU cash in CA. Still work a full time W-2 and rebuilding up my cash reserves.
Net worth is about 20% stocks and 80% real estate. After selling some rentals, will likely be closer to 40% stocks and 60% real estate. I hope to retire in about 5 years and this is my tentative retirement portfolio - paid off primary residence in CA, 10k/month cash flow from real estate, 10k/month from 4% rule, 200k in cash reserves.
Curious to hear your thoughts
