Player/Coach Relationships
How important do you guys actually value relationships with your players? What is your communication like before/after sessions? Do you have events where your players get a chance to know more about you and your personality outside of coaching?
I think one thing that separates me from a lot of coaches in my area is my ability to connect to the kids and get the best out of them. The kids who are the most comfortable with me have grown the most in each session because they’re willing to be coached and go 100% every rep. What I’ve also noticed is a big shift in communication/leadership with these players as they won’t hesitate to assist another player when doing drills or playing SSGs. This makes my job 1000000% easier and improves the overall experience for all players.
What are you guys doing to connect more to players? Any specific drills or activities you do to get kids to be comfortable enough to be themselves in each session and not afraid to fail?
Let me know!!!
