Banks air intake not so great
I bought this from dirty diesel to go with a new stealth STR turbo I had been saving up for.
I ordered the dry filter and not the oiled one in which it was specifically stated the dry will filter more dirt.
I have checked the intake twice after two road trips on dirt roads, both times, the intake was dusted…
First time I thought it was the filter minder grommet, so I rtv’d it to insure a proper seal.
Pulled it today and it was slightly dusted and it appears the dirt is coming from the filter dealing surface. There is a light light dusting that I can wipe away with my finger…
so this time I have greased the sealing surface, and made sure the filter is fully seated in its groove, hopefully this is the last time this happens.
I’ll pull it again in a week and if it’s dusted I’m going to show some pics, and hopefully people will avoid purchasing one because of it. I will also contact banks and see what they say.
I really hope this works out cause I gained 1mpg and already spent considerable money on it.
If anyone else has any advice post it up
