12v timing
So I’m into re time my 12v, I just replaced the tappet cover with a keatings billet and lining the pump up was much easier with it out of the truck. Now that it’s advanced I just can’t TDC the gear and the pump be lined up too. My question is how do I time the pump if the gears popped off, I’d hate to remove the pump. I know rob made a little jam nut tool to turn the pump shaft by itself but I don’t have access to such things to make a tool, does he sell one or does someone else? Or should I TDC the gear and mark it on the harmonic balancer then line up the pump, pop the gear off and turn the motor over till my mark on the harmonic balancer lines up to line the gear up? I have billet timings pins for both the pump and gear so if I do line the pump up then the gear I should be able to keep the pin in my pump while I line up my TDC on the harmonic balancer for the gear?
