So I installed my keatings billet tappet cover. It has the dual CCV port and I was just wondering what people are running for these. Right now my hoses are ran to the ground and after driving for a week it gets all over my truck. I know the dual valve cover breathers exist but I don’t exactly have $600 laying around and I’m not ziptying a bucket underneath my truck like some people have said. Any cheaper options or good catch cans?? TIA

@Marc Brulotte do you know what brand of catch can that it. That’s literally was I was just thinking about in terms on how to mount a catch can, it was that or the fire wall. I may do the same idea and just run the third hose to the ground since nothing but vapor should be coming out

@Robert Winkworth I was thinking of doing his method honestly it looks like it would work great and is very tidy. I plan to run 3/4 lines though. The keatings billet ports are 12an as is, but I will definitely look into provent 200.
12v Cummins 53 block
For starters my truck is a 1996 12v 215 ppump, while doing some wok I figured I’d check the casting number as it’s a 12v and not 99-01 which had the blocks known for cracking it just so happened to have 53 stamped on the side of it. My ultimate goal was hp so I was wondering if anyone had any real info on these blocks. Iv been told “a 53 block is a 53 block” but it makes me question because if you compared 12v and 24v blocks side by side there is not only a visible difference like freeze plug size which means they obviously aren’t the same casting but also in design as the 12v were usually thicker. So maybe made in the same foundry but completely different castings.
12v timing
So I’m into re time my 12v, I just replaced the tappet cover with a keatings billet and lining the pump up was much easier with it out of the truck. Now that it’s advanced I just can’t TDC the gear and the pump be lined up too. My question is how do I time the pump if the gears popped off, I’d hate to remove the pump. I know rob made a little jam nut tool to turn the pump shaft by itself but I don’t have access to such things to make a tool, does he sell one or does someone else? Or should I TDC the gear and mark it on the harmonic balancer then line up the pump, pop the gear off and turn the motor over till my mark on the harmonic balancer lines up to line the gear up? I have billet timings pins for both the pump and gear so if I do line the pump up then the gear I should be able to keep the pin in my pump while I line up my TDC on the harmonic balancer for the gear?

@Robert Winkworth the trucks still mainly stock. Like it’s so stop every bolt was in the AFC, I tore it apart when I first got it and did th KDP and resealed the front cover. Did a bunch of powder coat and then I my turned up the pump a little bit, not a lot it doesn’t smoke hardly but adjusted the star wheel, fuel screw, idle screw and then moved the fuel plate all the way forward towards the front of the motor. It has a tork tek OFV40 and an Airdog 165g with a sump but that’s about it. And before I messed with the return lines and timing it ran and started AMAZING

@Robert Winkworth just wanted to update, I got my rubber crush washers and replaced every single one. The 2 on the OFV, oil line to the ppump etc. I have an Airdog so in place of the fuel filter is a t that ties my pump return and injector return back to the return line that runs to my tank. I sprayed everything with brake clean and everything was good but it kept starting hard so my only thing to check was that t. Apparently when I pulled the pump my buddy disconnected the T for the pump return and it just didn’t seal right so I ripped it out, got some thread sealer and applied VERY generously and cranked that hog back on. Starts like a dream now

I’m Austin and I’m a union operator in northern Indiana. This is my 1996 Ram 3500 NV4500 12V Cummins. It started life as a farm truck just down the pasture and back. It had a flat bed on it for the longest time and was in pretty rough shape. Since Iv got it off my grandfather the trucks been through a lot, entire front end rebuild being it was all oem from 30 years, 5in exhaust, studs, etc etc.
