Residency for Immersive Arts & Research | Deadline: 13.03.26 | Netherlands
💡 Stage IX is a residency programme for artists working at the intersection of art and technology, built around immersive experiences (IX). Rather than following a linear production model, it creates space for open-ended research- thinking and making at the same time, with process prioritized over predetermined outcomes. 💡 The programme is run by a consortium of six Dutch institutions and selects a small cohort each cycle. For 2026, three spots are available: two for emerging artists (2–4 years experience) and one for established artists (5+ years), all Netherlands-based. 💡 What residents receive varies by track, but includes an artist fee (€18K–€26K), an R&D budget (€5K–€15K), workspace at Fort Penningsveer, and access to specialized facilities — spatial audio studios, XR and motion capture labs, volumetric capture systems, a fulldome venue, and more. 💡 The 8–10 month residency runs May through December 2026, with each resident embedded in a support structure of producers, dramaturgs, mentors, and peers. Residents are also expected to contribute to collective learning across three shared areas: audience engagement, production workflows, and education. Key Dates Submissions close March 13, 2026 · Residency starts mid-May 2026 🚀 Apply: https://forms.stage-ix.com/opencall Submit a research proposal, CV (max. 2 pages), and portfolio (10 pages and/or 5-min showreel).

[Open Call] GIRAF 22 – International Festival of Independent Animation
Register: https://www.giraffest.ca/ Deadline: 1 August 2026 Results Announcement Expected: 1 November 2026 Quickdraw Animation Society (QAS) is accepting submissions to the 22nd GIRAF International Festival of Independent Animation. The organizers are looking for animation submissions, in all styles, genres, lengths, and mediums, to present to their audience in Calgary, Canada. Selected films for 2026 will be presented during GIRAF 22 and the best International and Canadian short film will be awarded. The annual Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival (GIRAF) presents independent animation that pushes boundaries through the use of new techniques, unique visions, and stimulating subject matter. Submitted films can be abstract or narrative, hand-drawn or computer-generated, student films or well-established professionals, or somewhere in between — excluding commercial work! There are definitely commercials, trailers, mo-graph pieces etc that we love, but commercials, explainers, festival stingers and those sorts of things fall outside Quickdraw Animation Society’s mandate. The festival is also aimed at an adult audience, so children’s films aren’t the right fit. Music videos are admittedly a bit of a grey area; we don’t book them very often but have made exceptions in the past. GIRAF is an annual animation festival that runs each November at the Globe Cinema in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Incorporated in 1984, the Quickdraw Animation Society (QAS) serves as a fulcrum for independent artists and the larger community with progressive artistic and community-based initiatives. No Entry Fee! It's free to enter.
