Ever wondered about different wool fibre?
I thought I’d start this thread to let you know about different wool yarn and what it is like to use.
I’m going to post on this thread about different yarns.
First yarn of the week is :
🧶 Merino Wool (The Soft Superstar)
• Comes from Merino sheep, originally from Spain, now mostly Australia/New Zealand.
• Fibers are only 17–22 microns thick — thinner than a human hair (which is ~70 microns)! That’s why it feels buttery-soft, never itchy.
• It can absorb 30% of its weight in moisture before feeling wet — way more than regular wool.
• Used in high-end activewear: it wicks sweat, fights odor, and regulates temperature better than almost any synthetic.
