TF Noir Extreme Parfum (1/3)
I remember trying the EDP about a year ago and honestly, I just didn’t get the kulfi note at all. It came across as a fairly average spicy fragrance. I even made a post about it in the community back then, and a lot of people suggested I try the Parfum instead. I finally gave it a shot today, and here’s what I think:
Right off the bat, the Parfum already smells better (or at least stronger) than the EDP. I immediately get the citrus, cardamom, and ginger in the opening, and that phase actually sticks around for a while. A minute or two later, THE KULFI NOTE FINALLY SHOWS UP. I was genuinely gassed that I could pick it up, paired with a soft blend of florals. The kulfi feels very realistic, and the rose works beautifully with it, especially since that pairing is so common in the actual dessert.
It stays in this phase for a good 4 hours before slowly fading. Before that happens, it transitions into an ambery, vanilla, woody drydown. Both this and the EDP have excellent blending, to the point where even after a year I still can’t clearly distinguish every individual note.
The key difference for me is the drydown. The EDP doesn’t feel as deep or dark, whereas the Parfum clearly is, thanks to the inclusion of leather, suede, and guaiac wood. That alone feels like an upgrade. Owning both would be super redundant in my opinion, as they’re about 90% similar.
Performance is also better than the EDP. The EDP gave me around 4 hrs with soft projection. This one easily does 6 hrs, and I could see it pushing closer to 8. By hour 6, it’s mostly a skin scent. It starts off fairly strong, with about a foot of projection.
Now for the cons. First, the price. It’s way too expensive for what is still a relatively soft fragrance. A 50 ml is probably more than enough considering how rarely I’d wear it, but it sits around £120-140 even after discounts. Atrocious. Performance is another con worth repeating. This scent profile deserved stronger sillage and a more pronounced scent bubble, but it stays quite muted. Lastly, it’s one of the most popular fragrances of all time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if performance has been further nerfed in newer batches (*cough* Aventus).
All that said, it’s genuinely a really nice fragrance. Excellent blending, high quality, and very cool weatherunique. It’s warm, cool, sweet, spicy, nutty, smoky, and ambery all at once. Classy, mature, refined, and definitely not a safe blind buy. If it underperforms on you, then it’s best to wear it as a guest for important events (marriages, promotions)
I’d rate the scent itself a 9.3/10. Performance and price get a 6.8/10, and uniqueness and quality are a solid 9.7/10.
Overall, I’d give it an 8.6/10. If I ever find it at around £1-1.2/ ml, I’m definitely picking it up, even if it’s a 100 ml.
What do you guys think? Would you pick the EDP or the Parfum?
