I finally had the chance to fully appreciate Cappadocia, and it completely surprised me. When I first encountered it, I put it aside after being pulled toward African Leather, Marfa, and Irish Leather. As someone who loves revisiting samples, I came back to Cappadocia alongside Tiger’s Den.
Both were impressive, but Cappadocia truly stole the show. From the first spray, it came across as creamy, saffron-tinged, and earthy in a way that felt instantly familiar, almost nostalgic. It gave me that rare feeling of smelling something I’ve known for a long time, even though it was new to me.
In the opening, the saffron stands out with a warm, aromatic presence, then gradually gives way to buttery iris, myrrh, benzoin, and vanilla radiating softly from the skin. There’s a subtle touch of rose absolute in the background. I’m usually not drawn to rose, but here it’s restrained and beautifully integrated, adding depth rather than sweetness.
To me, Cappadocia smells like warm, sunlit spice drifting over dry woods and soft leather, where aromatic saffron meets a smooth, mineral-woody base. It feels airy, refined, and quietly confident rather than heavy or sweet.
It’s got a bit less pepper and a deeper, more earthy vibe from the frankincense, but it’s still a touch sweeter than YSL Babycat.
