Akro Glow
I really want to love Akro. One of my favorite perfumers owns it. Here I am wearing my fourth sample and I am so utterly disappointed.
Akro Glow is another minimalistic release, utilizing several high-quality ingredients to create a direct impression of a fragrance. It smells great. Pink pepper and olibanum, amber and vanilla. It smells like a slightly spiced pink pepper blast with a little powdery vanilla underneath. That's it: Direct and bright. Unfortunately all you will really smell is vanilla pink pepper. It's a very familiar accord if you have ever worn Spicebomb.
Imagine Spicebomb EDT without the tobacco or saffron for an hour. That's nice but it's gone already. I've tried layering and comparing the two and you're really just getting half of Spicebomb with no conclusion. Do you wish the top notes of EDT lasted? Try Metallic Musk. The real insult here is that I can swim in Spicebomb and never get tired of it. $45 a bottle. Akro wants $185 for the privilege of smelling happy for an hour. I have yet to try an Akro with two hours of staying power. I could probably buy every bottle of Spicebomb for the prices they're asking. If you asked me to pay $30 for 5ml of this I would tell you to go piss up a rope.
