“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” —Eckhart Tolle
Yesterday, we started talking about gratitude because I believe sincere gratitude is the foundation for all of our success, regardless of the specifics. That’s precisely why we’re going to focus on gratitude every day this month.
With that said, let’s dive into a little information regarding maintenance today.
Before we get into the weeds of “maintenance”, it’s important to understand a few other things. The “maintenance phase” isn’t talked about enough. I blame this on the diet industry. For many of us, we began dieting at a very early age and have spent much (if not all) of our adult lives chasing the next best thing when it comes to losing weight. Take a moment to consider your own journey. Do you feel like you’re always on a diet?
Here’s the deal—your deficit days should be limited. If you’re looking at an entire year, most of your year should be spent in maintenance (a time when you’re neither gaining weight nor losing weight) if you do your deficits correctly—and the holiday season is a perfect time to focus on simply maintaining what you’ve achieved so far.
Again, your time spent in maintenance is dependent on how well you do your deficits (fat loss phases). Either way, it’s a good season to learn about it, as maintaining your results over the next couple of months will prevent you from feeling like you must start over on January 1. 💯
