"Healthy eating is not about deprivation, it’s about nourishment." ~Unknown
At some point, society bought into the lie that eating healthy meant you’re dieting—when in fact, healthy eating should be the norm for honoring and nourishing our bodies. Choosing healthy foods certainly can lead to fat loss; however, that’s simply a byproduct. As we mentioned earlier this week, healthy, whole-food nutrition is medicine for your body. It’s nourishment.
On the other end of the conversation is the fact that studies prove that ultra-processed food has changed the way our bodies respond to food—and negatively impacts our metabolism. A quick Google search will provide plenty of information, but the website I’ve attached today will give you some insight into some of the worst ultra-processed foods and why they negatively impact your metabolism. ⬇️
To summarize, consuming mostly whole-food nutrition (as opposed to processed) is important if you want to support your metabolism—regardless of whether you’re in a deficit, in maintenance, or in a surplus. 💯
