Thank you to the South Carolina VBOC team for allowing me the opportunity to spend two days with members of the U.S. Coast Guard teaching the Boots to Business entrepreneurship course. 11-12 March 2026, 9 participants. Shout out Mrs. Jennifer Liddy, SC VBOC instructor and small business advisor for making this workshop happen.
Throughout the course, Coast Guardsmen explored what it means to become entrepreneurs and learned the key steps involved in starting and growing a small business. Participants discussed how to evaluate business ideas, understand startup costs, and develop a strong foundation for launching a successful venture after service.
The class also covered valuable veteran-focused resources available through the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Veterans Business Outreach Center Program network, ensuring participants know where to turn for continued guidance and support as they pursue business ownership.
We were fortunate to have Reginald Thompson, Director of the Georgia Veterans Business Outreach Center (GA VBOC) Business Outreach Center, join us as a guest instructor and share his expertise and insight with the class.
A special thank you to Dr. Tracey Arrington for coordinating and hosting this two-day training course and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
We appreciate the opportunity to support those who serve as they explore entrepreneurship and their next chapter.
