Cover Songs?
Quite interesting and I’m not sure how they get away with it, but I think Distrokid also have a mechanical license option for $1 per month.
So I was just listening to a Country Rock style version of Linkin Parks “In the End”. It has 1.5m streams so I’m assuming they were able to monetize it or maybe not and all royalties went to the band. The artist only does covers and had millions of streams/listens.
I know Jesse has mentioned to be careful with this sort of stuff, but looking further I found tons and tons of cover songs with millions of streams, that used the exact lyrics and some even similar styles to almost every cover song you can think of.
Anyone doing covers? I know YouTube flag that sort of thing. Just curious on everyone’s thought about this.
