a question for n8n experts :o]
hello I hope this is an appropriate forum to post questions about n8n. I'm stuck and hoping an expert in this group has a suggestion for me. both chatgpt and claude came up short (stuck in endless loops that aren't helpful) so either it can't be done or I need to find the answer somewhere else.
I have an http node that sends a lead to GHL, and then another node that checks GHL to see if it's been imported so it can grab the lead ID to be used downstream. the problem is it takes an inconsistent time for the lead to populate in GHL. my best workaround was to just set a wait node for like 5 minutes between upload and checking the lead. anything less than that has occasional errors.
what I'd like to do is set a much shorter wait period (like 10 seconds) and have a loop that checks basically every 10 seconds until the result is not null. the problem is I want to avoid any chance of an infinite loop so I thought to add a counter via a set node. unfortunately, the http node (that checks for the lead record in GHL) strips all set nodes so I can't increase the counter value.
there has to be another way right? like maybe a max tries on a loop or something that I'm missing? I know I've seen other workflows people have built that has loops like that but I don't know if they were http nodes. I tried doing a merge with a set node before the http node but since the poll loop is after the set node, the loop ends when it hits the merge the 2nd time and only gets the one value.
hopefully that makes sense... if anyone has any advice I would *greatly appreciate it*
thank you for coming to my Ted talk...
