I failed A LOT
I was 16/17 years old when I first saw a video from "Team Jetset" the OG's will know. These guys showed the fancy lifestyle of dropshipping.
I became obsessed with making money online.
I was decent in school, and was accepted into the University of Western Michigan. I was a wild teenager and smoked a lot of weed, drank, and sinned a lot.
I wanted to make money online, smoke weed, and drive foreign cars.
I would watch facebook ad videos everyday nonstop. I wanted to find a winning product before I had to go to college, because university was only a backup plan.
I was very poor. food stamps, free school high school lunch, no new clothes, but I was able to go to a private catholic all-boys school because my dad went there. I lived in basically the projects.
I saw everyone else and how they lived, nice houses, beautiful cars, I felt embarrassed. I knew I wanted to be successful.
I bought my first truck for $600 at 18 because we didn't have enough money to get my drivers license when I was 16 like everyone else. I lied to people and said some b.s story on why I didn't have a car or license.
I spent thousands on facebook ads from working at a party rental company in highschool, even sold my car for adspend to find a winner.
I found a product (vitamin e oil lol), scaled it to $30k in 1 month but ad account ended up getting banned, payment processors banned me. (This made me really good at running digital ads, which came in handy for my agency)
So I thought, dang it. I have to go to school. I was going to become a nurse and use all of my money investing into an online business.
I ended up going to jail at 18 for public intoxication and it changed my life. I was on probation for 9 months.
I went to college for 2 weeks and I had the tuition on FAFSA or government aid because my mom died at 16, and my dad lived paycheck to paycheck.
FAFSA told me I had to wait 6 weeks to get my money for books. So I thought screw it I'll drop out and start a lawncare business and use that money to invest online.
I was grinding my ass off. Door knocking, doing everything to get clients. I had 70 customers my first year, 150 my next, and then 250 with 8 employees the last year before I sold everything.
Since I lived in Michigan we have an off season during the winter. Every year I would try and find a winner, and I continued to fail and lose money.
The biggest lesson I learned here was I had a plan b which was my lawncare business that just wasted a ton of time, but I learned a lot of things like managing employees, payroll, marketing for landscaping businesses.
I ran a fb ad for my landscaping business. Spent $1k and generated $15k in small landscaping jobs.
This gave me the thought of running ads for other companies.
So during this time I had a gf and was a bad boy, committing spiritual suicide on myself. This ended and I changed again.
I became closer to God, started attending church, stopped sinning.
This allowed me to remove stress and anxiety because I put everything into Gods hands. Everything I have now is from him.
After selling the company I knew I HAD TO MAKE THIS AGENCY WORK or I would be a FAILURE and people would look at me as a FAILURE.
People told me not to sell the company, my dad told me, everyone in my family told me. They didn't believe I could make money online because I tried for so long. I was trying, but the spiritual suicide gave me resistance.
I purchased an agency coaching program where we would cold call to close deals. I had money from the sale of the landscaping biz and purchased 5 phillipino VA's to cold call and schedule sales calls for my realtor agency.
I would go through other agency funnels and books calls. Act like a prospect to see their funnel. This was also a b.s move that I don’t recommend doing.
I had 5-7 sales calls a day. I had the entire sales process WRONG.
  • no discovery call
  • no social proof
  • On the zoom calls I wouldn't go on camera (i had my shirt off in boxers and my camera went on once and they saw me lol)
I was telling myself damn, I'm getting so many sales calls. Once I crack the code on my sales process I'll finally be RICH.
That whole thing was a FAILURE. I closed my first client after 3 weeks and 60 sales calls.. yes 1/60. I whitelabeled the ads. I never spoke to the client because I was scared of her not getting any results. She never signed up and I stopped that agency and fired the va's.
Money was getting low. I continued to pray for wisdom, for him to guide me, for him to put the right thoughts inside my head, for him to remove anything that is in my soul that shouldn't be there and fill it with his holy spirit.
I met my business partner franky in a discord. We spoke and he was also a believer. He had a music video with 50 million views on youtube. I knew he was a winner. He also speaks spanish and I knew that is a valuable asset.
So I restarted an agency, and went all in on the landscaping smma niche. I spent my own money on ads to prove that it will work to get jobs for landscapers.
We went straight to paid ads and started closing around 1 deal a week.
I continued to fix all of the variables in my funnel.
  • make everything as professional as possible - all of the details
  • find scripts that work
We were running FB ads and some clients were saying they were not getting results.
I thought okay lets do this. lets sell them on a $5k package + $3k adspend. Lets use the $5k to white label SEO and Google ads to find a profitable lead generation source.
We ended up closing a couple deals but seo and google did not work right off the bat so that was a failure.
One day I spoke with a client who said he made $30k from his $1k adspend.
I told franky, these clients that don't get results just suck at sales.
We switched our offer back to FB ONLY -> guaranteed number of leads
Fixed our B2B ads
Month 1: $8K MRR
Month 2: $21K MRR
Month 3: $42K MRR
We were generating a ton of leads but our prospects wouldn't make it to the ZOOM call. So I went on LinkedIn and contacted a ton of sales reps from angies list (this is a massive lead provider in the U.S) and they told me you don't have to get them on ZOOM. You can close them over the phone.
So we did. Our closing rate was okay 10%
I thought dang, how can I get more people to see the presentation.
I spent a weekend creating the same presentation they would see on zoom, but put the slides on my website.
So now we send them a link so they can view it while we are on the phone. This increased our pitch % and our closing % to 25%
I'm 25 years old now. I just wanted to post this for the young dogs that are currently on the grind.
You have those thoughts in your head about being successful for a reason. I believe God put them into your head.
Continue to increase your skills, connect with people who are more successful, and never stop testing.
I have 100% faith in you. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I promise you.
