We traveled to Kenora ON to do some fishing before the hunting season begins here in Missouri. New place for us and it turned out pretty good. Caught a ton of fish, mostly Northern Pike but we got into some Smallies and Walleye also. My biggest was only 35”. We had several 39”+. A lot of fun but now it’s time to get the final touches done before season starts in 2 weeks! (Don’t get blinded by those legs🤣)

My name is Jenn Richardson, my husband, Grant Richardson and I created this group, TradBowhunter - Ethical Predator. We are from Ontario, Canada, I have had a love for the outdoors since I was little. My grandfather being a conservation officer in the United States and my other grandfather a trapper here in Ontario. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 26yrs, love the outdoors, marketing and business so decided to put all three together! We wanted to bring like minded people together and create a place to share their experiences with traditional bowhunting. ----------------- Hey folks! Grant Richardson here - about myself... I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.

What is everyone using? I’m in the market for a new stand this season. Looking for a sub 10# stand that is easy to pack and has a self leveling feature. I’m going to be hunting hilly and some steep terrain in November. I will pack in my clothes and such so trying to keep it as light as possible

If/when you switched from a compound to traditional equipment did you find it hard to go back and forth? After shooting my compound it seems like I take a few steps backwards with the longbow. Is it best to go all in or can you balance both?
