@Al Voss It is my view that it is not the drinking blood *per se* that is the core reason, rather it is the fact that this option (violence) ceased to be a possible consequence of disrespectful behavior which served to indirectly encourage it (by having thus diminished the "cost" of disrespectful behavior) An armed society is a polite respectful society.

@Al Voss ... yes ... one must accept ones capacity to commit violence, reconcile that within oneself, acknowledge that one *could* do such a thing, before one can credibly choose NOT to do it. A gentleman is not a savage, but he is capable of savagery when violence IS the appropriate solution.
Sartorial slump
I wonder if this has happened to any of you? I've been in a "sartorial slump" for the past several weeks. I have been trying to dress well but feel like a lot of my outfits are feeling the same. I am so use to wearing a jacket and tie that it seems almost routine and trying to spice it up has been tough. I have PLENTY of clothes but struggle to get excited about outfits as I feel like I am in a sort of rut. Anyone else struggle with that? One remedy I had though of was doing theme weeks, like a bow tie week or a tweed week, double breasted jacket week, wool sweater week, Argyle week, Ralph Lauren week, Brooks Brothers week Loro Piana week or a decade week I.E. 50s, 60s 80s....etc. any thoughts?

One thing I have found enjoyable is to select one unusual accessory item (say a bright pocket square) and structure the outfit around that. See how unusual an item or design you can work with and still come up with a solid gentleman's outfit built to emphasize that accessory.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’d like to find out some interesting unknown facts about each of you. Something that either you can do or maybe you have done that eemdont Now about you. I will start with a little fact about myself that I don’t think I have ever shared. I am licensed by the Library of Congress as a Braille transcriber. I hope a lot of you will share something !

As my travels have taken me across the international date line twice, gaining a day each time, I now technically live 2 days in the future.
How's It Going?
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, So, we are a little over a week into 2026, how are you doing? I ask this not to be funny, but this is the perfect time to see how your year is starting off. Because there might be some that started off planning to make their New Years resolutions and have not done it yet, that's okay there is still time. There might be some that made some and just have not started working on them, that is okay too, just take the time to get it going. There are some that still have their Christmas decorations up because they have not gotten around to taking them, that is okay when valentines come make a picnic under the tree for your special person, or if it's later, hide easter eggs under it, point being don't fret just when you get the time do it. the main thing is that you start off the New Year not worrying about things. If you have a New Years Resolution or goal. Great! But don't feel that you have to complete them all in the first week. Stop and take the time and review your list, then break it down into long term and short-term goals. Heck, do like the president (lie) just kidding, do the first 100 days. sets realistic goals you want to accomplish in the first 100 days of the year. Them set six months goals and lastly end of the year goals. Main thing is DO NOT SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE. Do not make unrealistic goals that you cannot achieve. And remember the race is not won the swiftest, but to those who endure till the end. Your only competition is you, and why are you trying to beat you? Win. loose. or draw you're still you? Do not start of the year stressing yourself out, worrying does not pay one bill. One of my favorite scriptures in the bible Jesus says,' Do not worry for tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself, worrying will not add one hour to your life." And by all means Do Not Turn Worry into Fear! Fear will cause you to stop dead in your tracts or make foolish decisions. Again, the bible says do not fear 365 time. how many days are there in a year?

I am inordinately blessed and getting better. Many of my friends, acquaintances, and colleagues seem to be ill or injured or dealing with close family that is ill or injured. I am doing well, my sons are healthy and succeeding, and business is profitable.
I should like to introduce myself
Hello Gentlemen and Ladies, I am called Vince. My hobbies include Dance (Argentine Tango, Waltz, Victorian Court and Country, Bolero, and Salsa) Martial Arts (Iaido, Aikido, Krav Maga, and Atemiwaza) Poetry, Karaoke, Philosophy, and SciFi/Fantasy novels. I am a polymath (PhDs in Physics and Psychology), a retired Army Intelligence officer, a former college professor, a widower of 15 years, and most proudly the father to two incredible and very different young men of whom I am extremely proud. I tend to dislike social media as I feel it serves to separate people from authentic interpersonal interactions. I am looking forward to excellent conversations and the chance to expand my knowledge and understanding, as well as make whatever contributions I can in assisting others on their journey of self-improvement.

@Randall Mastin Thank you. I am not very familiar with Social Media, so I am learning by watching and adding value where I see opportunities

@Randall Mastin - I concur... but it feels like its less polite and more "insiders only". I cannot imagine sending a work colleague the kinds of messages I see on social media.
