Food & Mental Performance: Why Protein Matters 🧠⚽
If you want to improve your focus, decision-making, and energy on the field, what you eat matters a lot. Protein is especially important for mental health and brain performance. Your brain uses amino acids (from protein) to produce neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which help with: • Focus and concentration • Faster decision making • Stable mood and confidence • Mental recovery after training or matches When players eat enough protein, they often feel more alert, calmer under pressure, and mentally stronger during games. Here are 4 simple foods that help your brain and body: 1️⃣ Eggs Eggs are one of the best sources of protein and contain choline, which supports brain memory and focus. 2️⃣ Greek Yogurt High in protein and probiotics. It helps both brain health and digestion, which affects energy levels. 3️⃣ Fish (Salmon or Tuna) Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which improve brain function, reaction time, and mental clarity. 4️⃣ Nuts (Almonds or Walnuts) Provide healthy fats, protein, and magnesium that support brain function and reduce mental fatigue. Simple tip for players: Try to include protein in every meal, especially breakfast. A simple meal like eggs, yogurt, fruit, and nuts can help your brain stay sharp for training and matches. Remember: Train your body, but also fuel your brain. Football IQ starts with what you eat. 🧠⚽

Football IQ Lesson from Liverpool vs PSG
@Zeyad made a very good tactical observation in his analysis. Liverpool defended in a 5-3-2 mid-to-low block, trying to stay compact and close the central space. But PSG used three smart attacking concepts: • Width to stretch the block • Blindside runs behind defenders • Quick combinations (1-2 passes and third-man runs) Because of this, PSG constantly attacked the half-spaces, which eventually led to both goals. This teaches us an important Football IQ principle: Defensive compactness is not just about shape — it’s about synchronized movement. If defenders shift late or midfielders fail to track runners, the half-spaces become exposed. Question for the community: When defending in a compact block, what is more important? A) Staying close to your teammate B) Tracking runners behind you C) Shifting together as a unit D) Communication between lines Explain your answer.

C and D because for C, if we don’t move together closely, major gaps will be created which could lead to a goal. For D we can say if there’s any runners’ any chances or telling our teammate to make a run
Football IQ Quiz – Positioning (Answers & Discussion)
Great job everyone. I really liked reading your answers and seeing how you are thinking about the game. This is exactly how players improve their Football IQ. Let’s review the questions together. 1️⃣ Why is positioning important before receiving the ball? Positioning is important because it gives you time and options. If you are standing in the right space before the ball arrives, you can receive the ball with less pressure, see the field better, and make faster decisions. Smart players prepare before the ball arrives, not after. 2️⃣ What is the difference between positioning and off-ball movement? Positioning is where you stand on the field to create the best space or passing angle. Off-ball movement is how you move to find that space. For example, a midfielder takes a few steps to the side to open a passing lane. The movement is off-ball movement, and the place he ends up is good positioning. 3️⃣ When your teammate has the ball, where should you move to help him? You should move to a place where you create an option for him. This usually means: • moving into open space • moving away from defenders • creating a passing angle • supporting from behind if he is under pressure Smart players are always thinking: “Where can I move to help my teammate?” 4️⃣ Which professional player has great positioning? Many players are famous for their positioning: • Xavi – always finds space and controls the rhythm of the game • Busquets – incredible positioning to escape pressure • Modrić – constantly moving to create passing angles • Thomas Müller – famous for finding space in dangerous areas These players are not always the fastest, but their Football IQ and positioning make them world class. Final thought Football IQ is not only about what you do with the ball. The real intelligence in football is what you do without the ball. Keep learning and keep studying the game. P.E soccer
Today, my class versed year 10s and year 8s ( our grade) in soccer and I was playing invisible the whole match because I was scared to lose the ball and I was even scared to ask for it. The times I was aware and scanning, no one passes but the second I zoned out, the ball came to my and I always messes up. I did so horrible
