Where's my notes page?
Thank you to the student who recently pointed out that your progress dashboard (lesson notes) can sometimes be hard to find. If you would like a direct link to your progress dashboard sent to you (perhaps for you to write down or bookmark in your browser), just comment on this post. The current way to find your progress dashboard is to click on the classroom tab (this is where all resources are), click on support (this is where all the resources to improve your playing can be found), and then click on "progress dashboard". Checking and practicing from the notes is important for progress! It shows you, in a skill where there is an infinite number of things to improve on, what to prioritise. If there's anything else you're struggling to find, just let me know!

Thank you Benedict!
Atomic Habits
A tip I got from the above book was to build a system that over time will make change, rather than aim for a goal (often without a system to reach it). I realised I was just WISHING to practice the piano but always told myself I never had time. After listening to the above advice I decided to start a routine in which I would practice the piano after all chores etc done in the evening, for only 5 mins (if I do more, great, but no pressure). This way, even on the hardest, busiest days, I can still maintain my routine. Herbie Hancock said that you don’t need to be good straight away, you just need to be better than yesterday. So I have been doing this every evening for about two weeks now and loving it, and feeling like I am better than yesterday. Never done less than half hour cause I get so into it but I love knowing that if I can’t, 5 mins is also fine. Hope this helps someone!

@Benedict King glad you like it!
Nemesis piece
I've been trying to play Ashokan Farewell for so long and never seem to make any progress and put it away again each time. Today I picked it back up and am determined to get a grip of it this time. I'm going to write down my practice and slow it right down, breaking it into smaller sections. Does anyone else have a nemesis piece you are going to revisit this year and how are you going to tackle it?

Yes I have a nemesis piece! I’ve been playing a rag time arrangement of You’ve got a friend in me’ from Toy Story and it has some really tricky sections. I have been working on the first page for several weeks now! There are four pages argh. I decided to use the metronome for each hand, starting at 70 bpm, and increasing the tempo by 10 with individual hands until I got to 90. But hands together I had to go back to 70 and even that was hard. I’m just about 90bpm hands together but I find it impossible to play without mistakes. I just break it down bar by bar each time but I do wonder if I will ever get it!
Introducing Victoria
Hi everyone, I’m a returning piano player looking to up my game in playing by ear. I came to realise that all I really wanted to do was sit down at the piano and play pieces I know and love with confidence! I sing too, so aim to accompany myself a bit more too.
