A 7-day challenge?
Hi everyone! I would love to put on a 7-day challenge for you. It would be a course-like structure with opportunities to keep the community updated as you work through it. I want this challenge to provide new members with immediate value as well. So, I ask you, what was the most helpful concept that got you FROM feeling stuck, lost, or confused TO empowered to make real progress by yourself with clarity, structure, and direction? I've given some ideas below, but please also comment to say more. Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to launching this challenge soon.

Like Seamus, all these things have been helpful to my practice and moving forward in my playing. The number 1 for me though is the practice journal. Using it has encouraged me to really look at the piece, break it down into small sections & phrases. Being able to send it to Benedict ahead of the lesson also really helps, to get straight into the learning. I can add questions that have come up in practice for us to cover in the lesson. Also looking back at the pieces and progress I have made since using the journal has given me motivation to keep going when I get a bit demotivated. It's been a game changer!

My apologies!
Hi everyone! Despite being on holiday right now, I went back to Oxford over the past few days to get some coursework done. It was a pretty intense few days, so I'm quite behind on my admin! My apologies if this has affected you in any way. Just so you're aware, my exams will probably start around mid-May and will hopefully finish by early June. There may be one or two weeks without lessons for those of you who are having them. Honestly, I'm quite looking forward to the exams, or more specifically, the period after their completion! Just wanted to keep everyone updated. Thanks for your patience!

Practice notes

Major minor chords
In my most recent lesson with Benedict, he taught me about the ‘major minor’ chords (minor triad with a major 7th sometimes plus a 9th) that often show up in Bond soundtracks. So very interesting that with my first listen through Raye’s brand new album, it comes up several times! It’s almost as if she did it on purpose for my education- so thanks Raye! Anyone else had a listen and can find the major minor chords?

Recognising chords
Here is a clip from my last lesson with Benedict where I had asked if it will help, if I could recognise what chords I am playing. I hope you find this helpful and I'd like to know if you know what chords you are and if that helps your playing and learning new pieces?
